Tourist Brazil Visa
A TOURIST Brazil visa is designed for
non-Brazilian citizens traveling for pleasure or personal reasons
and requires:
- a valid (not expiring within 6 months) passport or permit
to reenter the US;
- a filled out copy of a visa application form provided by the
Consulate;
- one recent passport-type photograph (facing front, against
white background);
- a round trip ticket to Brazil or an itinerary print-out from
a carrier or travel agent, attesting to the acquisition of the
ticket, with flight or vessel identification and dates of departure
to and from Brazil;
- evidence of means of subsistence in Brazil.
* Non-US citizens are additionally requested to present
one of the following:
- a US resident alien card or
- a valid entry visa to the US.
Courtesy or open ticket holders must identify themselves with
an airline carrier ID card or a signed statement from the carrier
indicating his/her travel itinerary.
Please be reminded that it is unlawful
to engage in business or professional activities in Brazil under
a TOURIST visa.
TOURIST visas are normally issued for
a period of 90 days and are subject to consular fees, except
that Brazil/US, Brazil/Mexico and Brazil/Canada governmental
agreements allow US and Canadian passport holders to be granted
tourist visas for periods of up to 5 (five) years. Stays, however,
are limited to a maximum of 90 days per entry, and to a yearly
total of 180 days, including any 90-day extension obtained in
Brazil. A previous Brazil/US agreement exempts US passport holders
of consular fees for tourist visas. There are, notwithstanding,
processing and handling fees (see section Entry Visas General
Information).
